The White Stripes-was an American rock duo, formed in 1997 in Detroit. The group consisted of drummer Meg White (drums and occasional vocals) and songwriter Jack

featured a melding of garage rock and blues influences and a raw simplicity of composition,
arrangement, and performance. The duo was also noted for their fashion and
design aesthetic which featured an exclusive use of a simple color scheme of
red, white, and black, which was used on every album and single cover the band
released- as well as the band's obsession with the number three. The band's discography consists of six studio albums, one live album, two extended plays (EP), one concert film, one tour documentary,

roku grupa zyskała popularność na niezależnej scenie muzycznej Stanów
Zjednoczonych. W niedługim czasie ukształtował się rozpoznawalny styl muzyków z
Detroit.W 2001 roku, gdy ukazał się album White Blood
Cells, The White Stripes zyskał sławę poza USA. Album zdobył liczne nagrody, a singel Fell in Love
with a Girl to pierwszy kasowy przebój amerykańskiego duetu.9 lipca 2005
roku zespół wystąpił w Polsce na Open'er Festival.28 lutego 2007 na oficjalnej stronie zespołu pojawiła się zapowiedź nowego,
szóstego studyjnego albumu zatytułowanego Icky Thump. Pochodzący z niego utwór tytułowy trafił na 1.
miejsce listy najlepiej sprzedawanych singli w Wielkiej Brytanii.
2 lutego 2011 roku na oficjalnej stronie
